Summer is here!

Last Day of School! :)

Ahh.... summer! A teacher's time to rest, relax, and recharge!

Time seems to be going by faster and faster with each new school year. Year 19 is in the books for me! Time to reflect on what went well and what could use some improvement. The next few posts will address those issues.

My plans for keeping the blog up-to-date fell by the wayside. Each year, I have such high hopes of being able to keep up with everything. This school year brought the implementation of standards based grading for our county, full scale STEM implementation for our school, and new responsibilities for my teammates and myself. I just need seemed to catch up enough to devote time to my teacher blog.

Isn't it funny that as soon as teachers are out of school for the year, we automatically start planning for the next one? My teammates and I already have our yearlong planning guides completed.  Here's a peek at mine. How do you organize your standards/curriculum for the school year?

Too Hot (Outside) Tuesday!

Sunblock

Whew! I don't know about your "neck of the woods", but around here, It's HOT! I remember loving summer time and being outside all the time when I was a kid. These days, I just can't handle the heat! Don't get me wrong, I still adore my summer and I'd be happy to have my toes in the sand at the beach. But here in the Northwest corner of Georgia, the heat and humidity will literally wear you out!

I've reached the point (week 3) of my summer when I've cleaned everything there is to clean that I had put off during the school year. I'm not a big TV watcher. However, I did watch the Mortal Instruments movie this morning. It wasn't bad but I can't wait to read the book. I just know it will be better. Since book shopping wasn't on the list for today, I've been scouring Pinterest for ideas for next year.

Well that led to today's big project, the creation of my teacher's binder! I'm pretty excited. I'm slightly, no, hugely OCD. My mom's motto when we were growing up was "a place for everything and everything in it's place." It stuck. I literally have to have somewhere designated to put everything! I've used binders to organize myself, lesson plans, and other teacher stuff for years. Last year, I made my teammates and myself personalized binders. We used them with great success throughout the year. However, we thought of other things or sections we needed as we went. I keep a running list. So today, I created a new one for each of us! I know it seems like a small thing but it's huge for me. Here's a peek at a few of the dividers.

I can't wait to print,  laminate, and tab them! Sorry, I'm such a NERD! Back to School time was always a favorite of mine. All those new school supplies and trying to get the most "fancy" items so they weren't like anyone's!

How did you spend your Tuesday? Do you use a binder to stay organized?
